Top 5 Wednesday || Buzz words

Hey guys! Today I’m bringing back top 5 Wednesday… on a Friday. For a while I was out of the loop with this feature, but I want to try to join in again. So this one is my top five buzz words, the words I look for or the ones that catch my eye when a book is described.

This meme was created by Lainey and GingerReadsLainey on Youtube. You can find the Goodreads group here.

Top 5 Wednesday

5. Mythology
If a book is based on or includes mythology in the slightest, I’m very interested! It’s part of why The Raven Cycle and The Secret History are some of my favorite books.

4. Mental illnesses
This is something many people deal with on a daily basis, sometimes their whole lives. So when a book is about or includes a mental illness of any kind, it’s more than likely going on my TBR list.

3. Mystery/thrillers
I typically quite enjoy mystery thriller books, especially if it includes an unreliable narrator or an excellent twist. Then I’m left with my heart wrenched, basically.

2. Strong friendships
To be completely honest, I would much rather read about a great friendship instead of a bunch of romance. I don’t know why it is, but friendships tug at my heartstrings more than romantic relationships.

1.LGBTQIA+ themes
We all need some more LGBTQIA+ in our lives (and many other lives as we read). I’m a big supporter of this and I’m glad we’re seeing more of it in YA literature.

What are some of your buzz words? Do you share any of mine? Thanks for reading!

  1. We have Mystery in common and I do find Mythology interesting because it reminds of ancient=History :). I love mystery because it entails picking up clues to finding to solve the puzzle in the end. It is especially a great read on a cold day :).
